Hellstorm's true name is unknown. He has revelaed very little about his childhood, other than the fact that his family was slaughtered and his home burned by Cobra soldiers in a corporation feud. Hellstorm's body was scorched severely, but he was able to survive with the assistance of a body suit which also conceals his hideous body.

Hellstorm wears a gas mask to protect him from the deadly fumes emitted from his customized flamethrower. In battle, he wears heavy chest armor and light body armor around his body suit. He wields a wide array of weaponry; he carries an old MP5 short, his typical flamethrower, and, in contrast, a high-tech Fusionry Machine Gun.
