#4 - Mathayus: The Scorpion King

One of my favorite characters fro the Mummy films was Mathayus, the Scorpion King. For my take on the figure I didn't want another Rock type figure. Mathayus was an Akkadian warrior that was well known as the Scorpion King among all that knew his identity. Born in the kingdom of Akkad, his father was an Akkadian warrior and his mother a Greek slave taken in battle. as a young man Mathayus set out to join the group the Black Scorpions and become a mercenary, training extensively in the deadly arts for the highest bidder. Taking the mark and the oath of the Brotherhood of the Cobra, he travels throughout the ancient world in search of riches, battle, and revenge.

I love Greek mythology. As a kid my Harry Hamlin Perseus figure and other Clash of the Titan toys were some of my prize possesions. Unfortunately, my Pegasus and Kraken disappeared over the years. When I first saw the HACKs line I wanted to make a new Perseus figure. I got a base but couldn't find a head that suited me. I originally thought about casting the old figures head (now way in Hades I was cutting it off my original figure). I decided I wanted something that resembled Sam Worthington's character more. So I did someplaying around with a blanks head and got the 5 O'clock shadow look. A little more painting and I knew I had found my parts. Next was to outfit him. Again, I thought about the white toga style but I couldent get it to look right so I painted up some HACKs armor (multiple times) till I finally had the look I wanted.

#5 - Perseus: Slayer of Gorgons

Perseus was the son of Zeus and Danaë, the daughter of Acrisius of Argos. As an infant he was cast into the sea in a chest with his mother by Acrisius, to whom it had been prophesied that he would be killed by his grandson. After Perseus had grown up on the island of Seriphus, where the chest had grounded, King Polydectes of Seriphus, who desired Danaë, tricked Perseus into promising to obtain the head of Medusa, the only mortal among the Gorgons.

#6 - Neaera: Cult of the Naja Haje

As with many ancient cultures serpents seem to always weave their way into my myths and legends. In anceint times the Cult of the Naja Haje hid in the shadows secretly worshing the Cobra. Sold into slavery and prostitution at a young age, Neaera was found working in the brothels of Corinth by a servent of Stheno, a member of the Cult of Naja Haje. SHe was taken in by the cult and branded with the Serpents Fang. She was then sent back into Corinth to gather more prostitutes anf bring them into the Cult. As part of the cult rituals her body was not only branded with the Serpents Fang symbol, it was also painted and tattooed.

In my action figure universe the Cobra organization can be traced back to the Gorgons. It includes figures from most of the lines on the market at the moment. I'm gonna change directions with the next several figures to showcase some of them.

#7 - Cobra: Vampire BATs

This figure was a basic LBC with only a little modification to the head and a few paint apps. As new technology is developed by STARK Industries, Cobra wasted no time stealing it. With the help of Firefly, OverKill was able to steal the plans for the Falcon Flight Suit and modify it. Adding the new technology to his legion of BATs and new troop was created, Vampire BATs. Equiped with the ability to fly there will be no stopping this new threat...COBRAAAAA!!!!!

I tried different weapons but never could find the right fit. I'm thinking that their wings are the weapons.

I never got a new version of Zarana so when the CORPs released their females I knew I was gonna make my own. I'm sure its not an original idea but this is my take of the character. No need fro a lengthy bio cause we all know who she is. Its a basic repaint of Puma. So I give you....

I have several customs made with these bodies. I trying to decide whether or not to post them here or save them for the group project.

Up next is a custom I made using parts from Elite Force figures I picked up at Target. One of the things I like about the first run of figures is how easy the parts can be interchanged. I also like that most of them had nice details that just needed to be painted and highlighted.

I have plans for a Zamia but haven’t gotten the right parts yet.
