ha! those are all one of a kind. the two short swords are made out of just nails. the giant sword is either a broken file handle or some other scrap steel w/nail guard, handle, and pommel. the little brass accent drilled out on the guard will get something shiny put in it.

Nice work. I casted a bronze sculpture once in college. It's there a way to remove the cast with out destroying the investment? Do you use a fluidized bed to make the investment or is something else better for small pieces?

i'm a jeweler and we do lost wax casting. first we either make a rubber mold or carve a wax, then put it on a spru in a metal vessel and pour on investment. a burn out in the oven, then ready to pour metal on a vacuum table. it's a two day process and that just gets us to a rough cast tree of items.

my ak tree was 90% incomplete. but I was able to save them with the wood and folding stocks. probably my favorite go was the silver destro heads, but the most extreme was space lord destro I used my og mold and added huge wax horns. there are some brass monkeys and horses arses floating around joecustoms that i'm pretty proud of too!

thanks Rambo! the AK is my favorite real world rifle so I felt I had to make a couple realistic versions in our scale!

How can I get one?

right now there is only 2 folding versions and they aren't for sale :) I might try and make some more casts of fixed stock ak's if I get time this summer, but I don't know for sure. I've never shipped out of the USA either so that's another hurdle. I tried to cast 5 and only 1 came out perfect, and I ended up selling it. the wood version and two folders were just trying to save bad casts. I have 1 more cast that needs a lot of work to either fix or mod in some way. casting such large pieces in mass is a challenge, even for the master jeweler who is teaching me!

I use a Miami address, so that is not a problem. Let me know if you can sell one for me. I will appreciate it. :-D

I haven't been working on much, jus feeling under the weather this week.

last week @ work I fixed my last mis cast AK by filling in an regrinding the stock plus adding a stainless steel tube for the barrel. I did sprue up some waxes for a later date with a couple more ak's. if they come out i'll have a few to sell (RAMBO :) ) this one gives me a perfect fixed stock AK for my personal stash.

my friend took a pic of my wax trees for me. AK's, carcano rifles, desert eagles, and 1911's. today (not pictured) I made a tree of desert eagle slides cut from frames + frames with some extra material (going to try and make some functioning slide DE's!) and AK actions cut from wax rifles (to hopefully make wood stocked rifles!)

Image
I tried to enhance it a bit

it will be a couple weeks before I get a chance to cast these in metal, wish me luck!

after so many months I thought I would be fumbling when it came time to cast this round, nope! 3 perfect pours with zero problems! a couple air bubbles during investment, but nothing major. all the bad things that can happen were in this stage, so all these will eventually be metal weapons!

2 views of this tree, these carcano rifles are #2&3 in existence. #1 went to my gunsmith friend with my snipers nest dio.
Image
2 perfect AK's- 1 spoken for :)
Image

this tree is all desert eagles and 1911's. some of these will get plated white rhodium ,black rhodium, and gold.
Image

this tree is a mix of ak recievers and desert eagle frame/slide parts. i'm hoping to use them for some custom weapons.
Image

I cut one of the DE's off the tree. here you can see it has a good bit of "flash" to be cleaned up. I left a bit of sprue at the bottom to shape into a mag well/base.eta after seeing these pics I should have left a little more!
Image

here it is (beside the plastic one used to make a mold) as I began to polish it with white rouge
Image

and here it is polished and accented with black rhodium on the grips.
Image

these will take a lot of time to cut off and get into this condition and i'm not sure if any will be available. I plan on donating a handful for CC prizes for sure!
