Been a while since I revisited my Bat-verse in customs and, since my son and I have been watching back episodes of BTAS over the holiday break, I thought I'd try a deeper cut from the Arkham inmate list:

Of course the Ventriloquist is intentionally about as plain as toast and really just a glorified accessory for his diminutive alter ego:

Scarface was a ton of work. Initially I was going to just use a Lego or Kreo gangster figure as-was, but both lacked the character and menace of the real deal. So I grabbed one of the cartooniest looking heads in my fodder bin and turned it into a blockier caricature of itself. Then I bashed together the best bits from both the Lego and the Kreo with some modified Baroness upper arms and Mutt Williams boots.

Now when no one's looking, Scarface can do this:

What do you think?

Amazing. I almost feel ashamed that my plan for this involves sending my 1/12 scarface off to be shrink-cast

This is great. Perfect use of both those base bodies.

I couldn't place the head until that last pic, great use of Punisher's head.

Really dig this character and you did a top notch job on yours.

Thanks for the kind words on these guys.

Next up, another deep cut from the animated Bat-Verse:

My son challenged me to make a Man-Bat and at first I was pretty intimidated. The base body was a no brainer (grey Beast from the 4-inch Legends line), but what to do about those wings?

Finally I happened to spot a Schleich dragon at TRU that I thought might make a good donor. After that, I just had to scult the tattered cloth details on the pants (upper legs donated from an MU Thor) and the batty details on his face and ears.

Here he is menacing the Dark Knight from above:

What do you think?

Wow - that's awesome, Spinny.

The arms/wings have been the sticking point for my Man-Bat build as well - will have to keep an eye out for the Schleich dragon.

The sculpting on that is amazing. Very well done.

Thanks guys.

It was a fair amount of work. Probably worth noting before anyone goes looking for a hairy dragon that I had to sculpt the fur on those wings as well.

is there anything you work on these days that doesn't require a ton of work? You're the hardest to copy customizer out there man.

Heh...I've got a bunch of lazy customs I'm planning to post the week of Christmas, so keep an eye out then.

In the meantime, here's a character update/rebuild that involved some serious effort and has been like a monkey on my back since I started this thread:

You guys had some very legit crits of my first swing at Grodd (which is still on page 1). So I broke that custom down and started over preserving only the parts I thought I could make work. The hands and forearms were the only things to survive relatively unscathed (although I had to create adapters to make the forearms work with the MU Rhino donor body I chose for this transplant). The feet had to be completely re-engineered to fit the legs. And I did some extensive sculpting on the head to make it first less monkey-like and then more Grodd -like.

Here he is playing "got-yer-arm" with my custom Flash to show his relative scale:

What do you guys think?
