Hi,
i don't know if any of you ever used this technique. I was looking for alternative solutions to chrome vacuum plating. And since silver paint won't give great result i found this paint call
Spaz Stix mirror chrome. (haven't tried it yet)
While searching I also found something called
MGM Super Magic Powder or MGM plating powder which will give a great kinda chrome affect.
Someone said that it could also work with graphite powder that you can get by rubbing it on a sand paper or with a razor blade.
you just need to apply the powder on you piece and buff it.
it needs a glossy black base (i tried on grey and white also). You just rub a cotton swab to the part covering it completely, After that, you rub it with a flannel or a cosmetic cotton pad. The more you rub it, the more chrome effect you get.
It's a bit darker than real chrome plating but i think it's a great alternative.
see my experiments below
Helmet was almost flat black not glossy at all. Both Destro's head are the same, right end is the untouched one, test on white glossy paint. CC head is there for comparison

This is Metal Head vintage helmet, grey mostly glossy plastic
