Just watch the last aired episode with Metal Head recapping his life with Cobra to his grandma...he makes them sound good. Of course Metal Head sounds like an idiot. The entire episode is filled with spliced DIC episodes. Buy this point Cobra consisted of only Cobra Commander, Metal Head, and Road Pig (who was the only Dreadnok to stay on during DIC).

Gnawgahyde and Zarana were around for Dragonfire and Season 1 of Dic. A repaint of Zarana in Dic colors would be something the club could do.

When DIC would not renew their contracts, Cobra Commander sacked the Dreadnoks from Cobra and they had to find other work. Buzzer went back to Cambridge and now lectures on social studies. Ripper went into business selling his own brand grape soda and chocolate donuts. Torch became a consultant to the FBI on arson cases. After Zarana left, she travelled to Paris and founded a very successful fashion shop specialising in expensive high end couture punk clothes. Only Road Pig was dumb enough to settle for the lower contract DIC offered him

I did two videos on the DiC cartoon so far.
The first asks the question : Was the DiC cartoon really that bad?

The second was my 50th episode and is a review of "Chunnel"

Dic... Dic had issues. Though even I'll admit liking "I found you, Evie" a lot. I also liked "An officer and a Viperman".

Just watched "United We Stand" yesterday. It was on par with the Sunbow toons I thought. Cobra basically made the Brainwave Scanner in chemical form and threatened to spread it all over the world if they didn't get 50 billion dollars. They had the Joes on lockdown stating that if they left GIJoe HQ, they would launch the missiles with the chemicals. Pathfinder and Ambush were the only ones not being watched so well because they were in the hospital and snuck out dressed like nurses. They infiltrated Cobra HQ to find out Cobra was bluffing, they only had 1 missile and it wasn't flight worthy. They radio it in, big battle with lots of Joe vehicles on display, Joes win, Cobra Commander escapes.

I just rewatched the series over the weekend. Really, lots of the first season aren't that much worse than some of Sunbow's average episodes. There are some cartoony parts, like silly sound effects or Metal Head, but really, most weren't too bad. One thing I missed though was that since most of the Sunbow cast hadn't had second versions of the characters, it really was like a whole new group of Joes. Hawk was still there, but in that ridiculous v3 flying uniform, Sgt. Slaughter, Baroness and Lady Jaye (I think I actually like this Lady Jaye better) did frequent the episodes. The Viper Corps was certainly much larger at this point, so there were more troops beyond the blue shirts and v1 Vipers, but lots of times they seemed to be used wrong, like Alley Vipers being used as regular grunts when Cobra attacked the Joe vacation retreat island, or Night Vipers not being used at night. I'm not saying they were all Emmy worthy, but they weren't all bad either.

Second season is where the series lost it. The cartooniness and all just really began to ruin the show, taking you out of what is a somewhat serious action show and making it a kid's show.

The Range Viper seemed to be the default standard Cobra troop in season 1 of Dic. Night was it in Operation Dragonfire.

In "An Officer and a Viperman", most of the recruits are given Range-Viper uniforms, minus helmets (others wear Undertow and Rock Viper uniforms). It's possible that the recruits chose which unit to train for, even if they initially all appear to be training together anyway. And of course, this was to promote current toys over long discontinued ones. Basically, it tosses out things fans thought they knew about Cobra's organization out the window, albeit in a silly way.
