I used one of these back in high school, when we build model houses in my drafting class. These work super well and I've actually been looking for one. I would highly recomend them to anyone building sets for dios.

I don't know why anyone would need to make a rabbet joint with this tool. For foamboard all you have to do is use a guided cutter and cut all the way down to the poster board. That gives you a much better board to board seem instead of a styrofoam gap. Even before I had a guide I was still able to make even cuts with nothing but a metal ruler and a box opener. While $10 isn't that bad, you can find better tools for the job at the same price at your local craft store.

Indeed. I rabbet joint all the pieces I have done and am doing, and I just make sure I cut to just the beginning of the paper surface. This is also good when you channel set windows too.

That said, I am all for tools to make the hobby more accessible to everyone.
