I use brick bases and various rods that will connect to them to hold parts for customizing - such as using the clear Mega Construx rods that are meant to make figures & vehicles look like they're flying to peg into a Joe or Mega Construx back to hold a torso for hands-free painting.

While at Dollar Tree today, I found these. Handy for storing/sorting parts and with the block lid, can be used for holding a part for painting, all for $1.25!

I stopped in to find some of the Final Faction stuff (got the comic book and the latest accessory packs) but was more excited about this find!

that's pretty cool. how good do the lids snap on? do they have female lego on bottom to stack/build?

The lids don't snap on super tight, so they will spill if dropped or turned over. Unfortunately, they do not have the female portion to allow for nesting or stacking. The only brick-compatibility are the pegs on the lid.
