| Post subject: | Angelforge Figure Kit Advice | ||
Any advice on putting together this Ace figure kit from Angelforge? Particularly the best way of getting the lower arm post into the upper arm socket? Both parts are molded in hard plastic, not soft like Joe figures, so don’t want to mess up, because I likely won’t get a second chance. Any other tips are much appreciated.

on drilling the holes for the lower arms to fit in a low speed or hand/pen vise drill will give you more control. start with a small bit then maybe 1/2 size, then the full size you are wanting. in steps you can adjust if your hole is drifting some. in most of the customs where i'm building and will need to take apart to paint i over size those holes and use heatshrink to get a tight fit. since both your parts are hard plastic it is going to be risky to fit them tight enough to hold pose and not too tight. i'd say heatshrink would give you a literal cushion especially if you use a couple layers. |

To get the posts from the lower arms into the uppers, you’ll want to boil/microwave a small container of water. Stick the upper arms in the heated water for about 20-30 seconds. This will evenly heat the resin and soften the part. Remove the upper arm from the water once heated and fit the unheated post of the lower arm into the upper arm. You may want to check the hole in the upper arm first before attempting to insert the post to make sure it’s hollowed out enough. It might not be a bad idea to use a Hasbro factory joint post that matches the resin post to test it out first. You can heat the upper arm again to remove the factory post after testing it. Take extra care when handling the resin joint post once inserted. Resin joints aren’t usually as strong as factory made joints and can break much easier. |

i was reading it as the upper arm holes were not there, so if they are then all the drilling stuff is out. if you plan on assembling and then taking it back apart then hot water would be great. the only problem is if you want to paint the parts before you assemble, then the hot water might lift your paint. |
