i got a few broken fn figures in a lot. the worst had both elbow joint pegs broken inside the upper arms. i drilled a small hole into the pegs, screwed in a small "eye screw" , and boil/popped them out.

i tried the same with the ring side of the joint in the forearm and it didn't work. i was hoping the ring was split like other figure without "push pin" type joint construction.

i was getting ready to xacto the inside "post" then thought i might should ask if that's all i can do. if i cut the pin then i'd have to drill out and pin in a new joint.

Yeah, the way modern hinge joints work is that the disk section is a donut with the forearm (also knee, ankle, wrist, shoulder) peg running through it fused on both sides. The only way to remove the disk is to slice the peg. However, that doesn't mean they can't be used again. After replacing the joint on the now cut peg, a simple droplet of glue will hold it in place. Heating everything up helps the process and then cold water will harden everything back up once it is in place. Sometimes, you don't even need the glue, but for the elbow I'd use it since you'll be bending it and moving it around all the time.

thanks pluv. i pulled so hard while boil/popping i stretched the eye out on one screw. they both took some warp. i might slice the peg on both side and just drill for an all the way through peg. i haven't highlighted it but i have gotten pretty good with a lighter "riveting" new pegs on my motu wanderings.
