I have a previous version of Newt, but not only does she not have much articulation, she also didn't look the right age/height. Awhile back I picked up a Jurassic World Maise and thought not only was she closer to the age and height of the movie character, she also had much better articulation.

I also picked up a Harry Potter Cho Chang and thought that if I cut her arms down a bit, they would work great for this figure and add elbow articulation. I also gave her a pair of Rose Tico hands and I think she's on her way. Some paint, new hair piece, extend the bottoms of her pant legs and make some holes for exposed knees and she should be done.

The first picture is her with the new (unpainted) hair, coat removed and some elbow articulation I tried to cobble together from a set of hinged GI Joe hands. The second picture is how she is at the moment with sculpted "overalls" added and new paint on upper body clothing and arms. I managed to find a VERY...like EXTREMELY close paint match for the denim material of the legs and applied it to the upper body.

Very cool. Thanks for taking the before pic too because wow, you hid a lot of the work really well.

DanoftheDead, that gives me an idea, I need a Colonial Marine helmet for her, and a dolls head! (How the hell do I pull later one off at this scale?)

pluv, thank you, but she's actually mostly stock, other than the new arms.

2DARK2C, I actually think I could have done better on the sculpting, but it's good enough I suppose. I'd be happy to post a bigger picture, but with the boards limits on file size, I'm not sure how to go about doing that.

I host all mine at http://servimg.com/index.php it's decent size limits and free. although after years of hosting and not naming my files, actually finding old pics when I need them is trying. sometimes I end up just hosting them again if I need them quick.

a doll head could come from either small megablocks type figures or even static type mini figures. I saved some mighty mini wrestler heads to use for shrunken heads in our scale.

these la la loopsy mini figures might scale well.

I can look in my granddaughters mini figures to post scale pics, but If I took one it might be off with mine!

2DARK, thank you for those pictures and suggestions. My daughter has some of both of those, the La La's might still be a bit too big and the mixels...while the right size, look a little on the squarish side. I did recall a custom I did of Shadow Tracker a few years back in which I gave him shrunken heads made from 1:32 scale native American figures I picked up from the Dollar Store. I added hair made from string and painted them....and they actually turned out pretty nice. I might do that for Newts friend "Casey".

maybe with the mixels you could just use the hair on a sculpted round face. without seeing the "doll" in question i'm not sure :) i'd love to see pics of your shrunkin heads!!

Finished! I had made some metal overall attachments using thin wire, but that proved to me impractical and had to be removed. Not sure what else to say....hair came from a Baroness figure...I think. I had to resculpt the part in the hair so that it was on the side it is now....oh....and I nearly glued one hip joint completely solid. The forward and back movement was really loose due to separating the two upper body halves, so I tried to shore it up with super glue, I know I should have tried Elmers glue. Anyway, after working it every which way, it almost sheared off at the upper thigh until I took a tiny screw driver and separated the whole thing. I don't know how they do it, but the pin going through the leg and into the swivel, it's almost like it was molded in one part, I've never figured out how they do that and maintain movement. So that "pin" broke off on one end which allowed the leg to be removed. I didn't really want to go through all the work to make the pin permanent, so I just placed it back as best I could and I'm going to leave it for now. It moves just fine and doesn't look like it's going to fall off OR break the pin on the other end.

I had an extra Colonial Marine helmet sitting around...it rides a little high, but this was just for fun, not going to make it a regular-use accessory.

looks good! finished up now all I see is punky brewster :) did you try and sculpt in the metal buckles? I think such a small piece in metal would be tough, maybe one of the tiny metal screw in eyelets bent over at a 90* angle. you would need to drill, then run one in, then remove and screw in the bent one. after that it still might not look right!
