I used to keep my (Games Workshop) paint bottles stored inside a shoe box, but the problem was I couldn't see which was which because of all the black lids. Yes, I could mark the lids, but I already had two layers of paint bottles in that shoebox.....
Recently I bought this:



I've got one with an extra "floor", it works perfectly. At one glance I can see everything!

Very nice! it wouldn't work for me, though. I have paint in all shapes and sizes, all the way to large tubes.
