Has anyone tried using shrink-tubing on figures? I was a little worried about heating the tubing enough to shrink it and damaging the figures.

I love it! I got a variety pack for a few bucks in the electrical section at harbor freight.

I use it now for getting a perfect neck ball fit, way easy. I use a lighter and have only damaged a figure when not paying close attention. I need to get to harbor freight and replenish my stash. also great on weapon handles!

I have used the larger heatshrink for the effect of clothing with mixed success. I have some plastic heatshrink like you see holding battery packs or around bic lighters, it is a little harder to use but again I have used it with some success.

Very nice! I was wondering if it would shrink before the figure melted ha ha, I guess it's possible if one is careful. This seems like an easy way to make form fitting "leather" clothing.

you lose most articulation though. I had to go back and give eli's sleeves an open seem around the joint to get full articulation.

I use it for belts, arm and leg bands, and other similar stuff.

You can also make gun holsters and knife sheaths with it, and I've seen it used to make Cobra trooper like masks you can use on the female officer or on ROC Ripcord for a black trooper head.

Way back when I was working on a Bender from Futurama custom, I wanted to see what the heat shrink tubes looked like if I inserted those dog tag ball-chain necklaces into it. I didn't end up using them for arms and legs, but I have used them for greebles over the years. You can kind of see one in this picture on the left connecting to the 5 Hour Energy drink "oxygen tanks".
