How is the best way to adapt a Marauders Valkyries heads to the Hacks bodies? I'm new to customizing but I'm trying to make my wife a Jane to go with a Tarzan I'm working on for her. Thanks for the help. |

The good news is that the MTF Valkyrie heads fit perfectly with a slight mod - it's just that the barbell neck post is a tad too long for it to work right out of the box. Two ways to do it: a) Deepen the hole in the MTF head so that the large end of the neck posts goes in further (best if you want to be able to use the HACKS fig with HACKS heads later) b) Deepen the hole in the neck post of the HACKS figs so the smaller end of the post goes deeper. This is actually my preferred method and easier, imo. The problem is that you are pretty much tossing out the chance of ever putting a HACKS head/neck joint back on the figure again. If you've got a Dremel with a rounded bit, you're golden. I'll take some pics in a second - I'm going to do method B. |

Ok, here we go: Take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the neck post out of a hacks fig and pop the large end in the MTF head. It sits kinda shallow, but allows for good movement. ![]() Without modification, you'll get giraffe neck: ![]() Take the standard round Dremel bit: ![]() And just do a quick zap straight into the neck hole - I went down less than 1/8" - just enough to make it work (pic is before the mod) ![]() Go straight in, don't wobble the Dremel or it'll make the hole too big. Then I immediately popped the neck post in the now-deeper hole while it was still warm and it fits perfectly now with full range of motion. Had I drilled the hole in the head instead, it wouldn't have allowed that much movement. ![]() If I ever want to put a standard hacks head back on, I'll likely need to fill the hole slightly to get it back where it was, but I like this as-is. Hope that helps! |

Nice tutorial! i think that bit is the standard 'round burr' bit? or is it an engraving bit? |

I think it's the "round burr" - it's the one I use for 124% of my Dremeling. It barely fits in the neckhole when stationary - so you need to be careful before zapping it. <-- JCA "Most helpful board member" Nominee 2018 |

Attachment: I prefer deepening the neck well too. I use a 1/16" bit and just deepen 1/16 inch down with my Fiskars hand cranked drill. Just make sure you don't hamper the neck opening as it holds the barbell in place. |

Rob away, Cap! Originally I was going to just keep the bald HACKS head and use her for a Wakandan honor guard or something (I've got a darker blank wearing Euryale's white outfit as well) - but when I got my initial Valkyries heads, I couldn't pass up matching fleshtones. |
