https://cults3d.com/en/gadget/stargate- ... ng-cosplay So, for those 3d printing, is this something that could be scaled down to 1/18th? The only one in scale that I can find is this: http://shapeways.com/product/46DQY854P/ ... scale-1-18 Definitely not worth the asking price. |

It could be, but for that price ($52 for the files, then you'd still have to get them printed out), you'd be better off just redesigning it yourself. Since it's 1:1, that means it's a multi-part print. To scale it down, you'd have to reduce it then stitch it together. Not hard, but then that's not a very complicated design, so going from scratch wouldn't be too tricky. |

Hmmm... I didn't see that price before on the first link. Nevermind I've never 3d modeled anything, so I guess I'll try some thing else. Thanks! |

There are some programs out there that make modeling pretty easy, to the point you just add shapes together until you get what you want. I don't have experience with their latest offering, but Doodle3D looks very promising. I have their wifi box that allows you to make your printer wireless and gives you a web interface to do basic doodling and drawing and it's fantastic. I don't use it any longer because my current printer has wifi built-in, but it was great on my first printer to give it a bit more oomph. As soon as they go out of beta, I'll probably get it, and it looks like you could just scan in/insert a photo of an object and pull it into 3D. |

Here is a link to a free version of the Jaffa Staff. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1826159/#files Not sure what scale it is, but it's free. |

Thanks. I had seen some of those. They are probably full scale too. |

Scaling them down is really easy, though. It's just not worth it for the $50 job. But with one of the free or cheap ones, it's a matter of figuring out what size it should be and scaling it. For instance, if I find something I want as 1:36 and it's 1:18, I just scale by 50% in the software and it's done. The beauty of 3d models is that they are dynamic, so they scale worker direction with ease. |
