hey guys.

I can't find the thred were testors liquid cement was recommended for vehicles. I have had the 1.oz #3502 in my ebay watch list for awhile.

I picked up a couple double tube packs at Walmart on clearance for $1.25. I figured testors cement for plastic was all the same. it is model # 3509.

testors site lists them as different ?

the tubes I have #3509 say nothing about melting the plastic for bonding. is that correct?

anyone use this for customizing? successfully?

I thought that model glue stuff only works with the specific plastic that models are made out of, with regards to the solvent welding properties. I could be wrong though. I now use 5 minute set epoxy and scratch up both surfaces to increase the bond surface area. It holds like a champ.

I have only used two part epoxy at work, and seem to never get the mix right. now at work and in customs I only use superglue.

I was worried that was the case with this model glue. i'll try it on something I don't care about and see.

I found that super glue while convenient and quick, tends to be a brittle bond that can fail after time. But I did used to use that exclusively too

also it is a mystery why sometimes two pieces just won't glue together with super glue. it is the thing about customs that gets me the most frustrated. and I glue my fingers together way too much, at work and home lol

I do rough up edges, since most of my vehicles have been weathered I also use a bic lighter to heat the glued joint, not sure if it helps but it is therapeutic to hold a lighter to a stubborn piece of plastic!

I just got some brush on super glue so maybe it will be easier application.

Yeah. Super glue is maddening. It glues fingers to anything, but can be very temperamental on plastics and some stuff it's impervious to

I have started pinning and gluing when i'm making solid bonds on figures. it helps on plastic that is soft like rubber.

as example on my Jason figure. I used strait pins with the heads clipped off (vertically)to pin chap mei lower legs/boots to B&B legs. seems to be permanent and strong enough for posing.

I like to use plastic/strene for the same purpose.
