This is regarding vehicles. Most of the time I just kit bash parts together and hide seams and gaps with tech detail and meticulous cutting and sanding to make parts fit well, but I want to do something that requires a smooth transition between parts that does not allow for hiding with tech details and that is not possible to make parts fit perfectly.

I'm wondering what you guys think would be the best option for this. It needs to be fairly soft and easy to get smooth as I would prefer to have as little sanding as possible when done. I have used liquid green stuff for some small gaps in the past and it works great as you can basically get it perfectly smooth when wet, but my current situation requires too large an area for that product. Is there a product like automotive bondo for the modeling hobby that is like a paste? Sort of like a drywall compound type thing?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

there were huge sculpted portions on my original interceptor. I used mostly yellow milliput, with a little black milliput when I ran out. if you use water or baby oil you can make it really smooth.

I just used the last bit of my fixit to fill large areas of m njc entry. it worked excellent. I mixed it following the direction mix for 2m, let sit for 5m. it claims you have 3hrs, but I was getting frustrated around the 45m mark.

I should of mixed up smaller portions and divided the areas I planned to use it into several smaller tasks. instead I tackled 7 fairly large projects. filling, building up, and a few sculpting 3d details. I just ordered 1lb of the original aves as I don't think it will make a huge difference with my skill level. it was $21 on ebay instead of $30 for the fixit.

I can't post pics of the njc car ,but I will try and dig up my interceptor build thred if you want.

That should definitely work. You were able to actually change the contours, I'm just looking to join things together. Thanks

glad to help. can't wait to see what you make when you get ahold of the sculpting epoxies. I guess I just figured everyone used them in some form.

best advice I ever got was mix 1/2 the amount you think you need. second was baby oil gel, it keeps it from sticking to your hands.

I've never sculpted anything but beards. I'm the kid who fakes his way through school.
