Keenan did a good tutorial for Zombies. A rotary tool is the biggest thing you'll need to make all the scar tissue and battle damage a zombie would have.

themanw/oaname did my favorite trick though by using busted or-ings as the zombies guts.

DanOfTheDead is probably the most prolific zombie maker on the site.

Man, that's a really nice compliment pluv, thanks.
Here are a few of the techniques I follow for my zombies:

-Black base coat. Dry brush bluish grays for skin tone. I prefer a "factory" look for most of my figures, so I don't normally do dry brushing, but it's a great way to make the zombies look different from the living.

Image

-Use dark browns, not pure reds, for blood and gore. A little goes a long way. Be mindful of how the blood GOT on the zombie, and it will help you plot out where it should be on the figure.

Image

-For eyes, reverse the standard white sclera/black pupil of a human. Use a darker color for the base eye, and then use a point of white/off white for the pupil. This is pretty stylistic and is meant to mimic how a lot of the zombies in The Walking Dead are drawn, so might not work for your style, but It's worked pretty well for me. Also, just leave one socket completely black occassionally for a little variety among your horde.

Image

-Pose them "asymmetrically" for photographing. Turn feet in at odd angles, shift their weight so one hip/shoulder is higher than the other.

Here's a link to most of my zombie figures.

Hope some of those ideas help, and I'm looking forward to what you come up with!

Contact Star Wars Geek on eBay and ask him if he has any 'defect' cast heads (air bubbles, blow outs, etc).

I bought a lot of 50 heads (seconds) from him and there were a about 20 heads that had some serious head trauma. My immediate thought was zombies with major heads wounds.

I gave some to Spectre, including a few that had a small pour rod sticking out, making them look like they took crossbow bolts or arrows to the head.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Dan I never even thought of using Brown. Dark Jedi thanks for the tip I will have to get in touch with star wars geek. Pluv thanks for the links. Most of the figures and vehicles I'm working on are for the dreadnoks. My story follows the dreadnoks after the zombie breakout and I need more zombies!!! I should post my existing zombies although there not very good.
