I'm dipping my toe into the waters of casting:
I've made a Lego box to pour silicone rubber into for my mold. Will the Lego bricks hold the silicone just fine without leakage? I've seen several posts from casters who have used Lego bricks, but no mention of if anything is needed to keep the box from leaking. I have tested my box, and it is not water tight.

If you're using the same purple goo I used to use, it'll bleed into the bricks but not completely through them onto the work surface. I was using bricks two studs wide all the way around the perimeter, fwiw.

Once the goo was cured, the skins snipped off no problem.

I use simple and easy plastic containers. You'll spend a lot less time building boxes, they're reusable, won't leak, and they cost a lot less too.

Yeah, so long as you press all the Lego bricks together firmly, it should work. At least in my experience.

My legos span 5 decads so i have to be careful. Older bricks fit more loosely than newer

You should also probably check out Starwarsgeek's molding and casting tutorials. He uses Lego with painter's tape in the videos for his mold boxes. There's lots of good information in the videos if you're just starting out.

Thanks, gentlemen. I poured last night with no extra sealer around the box. Nary a leak to be seen. :)

I'll post updates as they are available. For now, let's just say I'm hoping to get some parts to ARAH fans that were promised a long time ago.

A few hints:

I'll post up details once everything is molded and cast. Right now I just have the two molds done, with 2 more heads and a torso curing as we speak.
