So I'm working on a new Post-Apocalyptic project- Wasteland Avengers. The idea is not that they are the actual Avengers in a PA environment, but rather characters inspired by an in-universe Avengers comic. (there is a cosplay group that does a similar thing but they are I believe supposed to be the real Avengers in a post-apocalypse scenario) It's also Fallout influenced, but not beholden to that lore either. My Captain America character wears a Captain America top and armor but carries an old highway sign as a shield. Thor is a big dude with some viking influence carrying an electrified super-sledgehammer. Iron Man is actually just a movie mk. 1 armor painted in worn yellow and reds like a normal suit. I imagine it like a junk Raider armor build from Fallout. I've also done a Spiderman who wears blue and has a draped red mask with googles. He has a spray gun with a hose attached to a backpack with fluid tanks on it. I imagine he shoots a kind of adhesive "web fluid." I've done a Hawkeye, who is relatively easy- he's the guy with purple tones and archery equipment. I'm working on a Quicksilver-- green outfit, white knit cap and rides a silvery motorcycle. I want to try to convey a piece of the characters' powers in the gear they have. Some ideas I have- I want to do a Wolverine, but he won't have actual claws but will have the GI JOE ninja weapon claws. I think I'll try to do an outfit reminiscent of the brown and tan costume. Even though he's not an Avenger, I had an idea for Cyclops as a one-eyed sniper with a laser rifle. Vision as a Fallout style robot but in the Vision color scheme. A Fallout Eye-bot done in a Wasp color scheme. Scarlet Witch is one I have to do, but her magic powers are something I'm having a hard time crossing over. She might just be one based on more of a design. I could focus on the "witch" part and make her more "tribal." I was playing around with doing a Dr. Strange and have him be more technology as magic. Ghost Rider - another biker but maybe with skull face place with flame design on the helmet and bike? Human Torch as a yellow jumpsuited flame thrower wielder? Any other ideas for Marvel character adaptions..... |

Wrecking Crew could be nomadic wanderers (oxymoronic?) that could travel from region to region, stealing and pillaging from various settlements. |

Hulk as a super mutant? In New Vegas you could make a claw weapon out of death claw hands... maybe wolverine uses those? But a nodded storm trooper helmet on that mk 1 iron man and he could be brotherhood of steel. Those are all pretty Fallout-centric ideas, not sure if you're aiming for a more generalized PA theme. Love the idea of cap with the highway sign shield. For some reason the iconic route 66 sign comes to mind. |

Deadpool, pouches and guns, just pouches and guns. Cable, a Popeye squinty eyed old soldier type with a robotic arm. May or may not have a big ol' hand cranked gatling gun. Daredevil, Matt Murdock in the red glasses meets book of Eli. Maybe a cane with a chained billy club attached to it. Gambit, trenchcoat, cards, dynomite Nick Fury, eye patch, and like Wild Wild West hidden guns out the wazoo. Dum Dum dugan, bowler hat and a big ol shotgun War Machine, again a soldier type, but one who still tries to keep everything spotless. Maybe wearing pieced together armor instead of a robot suit. Heavily armed either with dual m4/grenade launcher combos or one super powerful weapon or all of the above. Black Panther, definitely play up the tribal theme. An electro-bladed dagger would work too. I think for Wanda I'd do it like you are doing Dr Strange, playing up the science. She is a part show woman, part huckster. She influences people very easily. But she also carries flashbangs and smoke bombs. She is more diversionary and misdirection in tactics than straight up confrontational. Magneto, like a junk yard guy meets a train engineer. Not so much that he manipulates metal but he financially and physically has control of a lot of it. Like Dennis hopper's character from Water World, only instead of oil, he possesses all the metal. All the scavengers answers to him making him a pretty powerful warlord type character. I guess he'd also be like the junkyard guy on Jakku in Force Awakens too. Black Widow, play up the Russian spy angle. Knives in her boots and a pistols in her back. Maybe wrist daggers too. |

Going Old West, to cover the trope, I could see her and Dr. Strange as the strangers that ride into town like Christoph Waltz in Django. They are the snake oil salesmen, the con artists. Either one could be could at cards or distractionary-type rigged games. Not so much their true calling, but the disguise in which they can operate from. The 'wagon' or whatever vehicle they use would have hidden compartments for weapons, etc. |

Your big 3 are looking good. There's a cosplay group that does a similar theme for their characters. Might give you some ideas. http://farhaanabeato.com/portfolio/web/post_apocalyptic_avengers/gallery.html ![]()
