Seeing those Legendary Elves in Specter's shop reminded me about something I wanted to share about boring out custom bits.

We have all come across a figure, either static or of limited points of articulation, that had a great detail but it wasn't a loose or glued bit. It could be a bit of armor, a wrist computer or other feature that screams to be used on a custom you have in mind. For me, given my needs, it is often an armor or detail bit that was sculpted right on to the originating piece. That's where the Xacto and our drills come in handy. In the pictures below, there are armor bits I cut off of one of those Legendary elves, such as his bracers and pauldron that I just knew would look good on another base, such as a Bridge Direct Legolas . One the other photo, you will see the application where the Umbragen Drow elf sports the bones and skins on the Ugha warrior, Conan sports the bracer from a static Schleich warrior, the Nemtyar hunter(dryad) sports bracers that were once the lower arms of the Men in Black Boris, and the impaled victim shows that a broken figure can be glued static and repurposed to a background detail.

For the bracers, the plug hole from the hands worked as a pre-drilled hole. The other bits first got a micro starter hole, then larger holes until I knew that the wrist or arm could fit through. Nearly every new bit could just be boil and slid right on to the figure.

Hope it opens up some opportunities.

The skewed figure is genius. Unsettling, but genius.
