Let me start by saying that while I have still been picking things up over the years, I haven't had a proper display space in probably about five or more. Well excluding a shelf on my desk at the office. I have wanted to dabble in customizing since joining this forum I dont know 10 years ago now (? my old ID is locked out hence the "1" on this one). While I wanted to dabble, not having a proper work space, let alone display space has held me back quite a bit; any excuse to procrastinate. Fast forward to drbindy's awesome overhaul project and in showing it to my wife I was given the green light to modify our abandoned spare room to my own purposes. I've thank you once already, but again sincerest thank you to you sir (well and my wife for ok'ing the funds). Having this space not only lets me display some of my stuff, but finally get around to customizing and not to mention since it was designed to be dual purpose, now working from home isn't as bad as it once was. So this is a triple win for me. It is also a win for my daughter as this converted the room into a usable space for her as well. So all-in-all this little project has actually added a lot of value so to speak around the home.

Please note I really don't have any/much Joe stuff up yet. Reason being is that it is all down in the garage in bins still, plus I'm affraid to bring too much up yet with the Marauder and Hacks figures coming soon. I do intend to build out two shelves perhaps 6' x 10" on one of the walls in the room for additional display space, but havent gotten that far yet with my current workload.

And yes, this for the most part is just a converted closet. But it is really a pretty large amount of space.

Thanks for looking.

The desktop work space is actually quite large. The monitors are back only about 6 inches from the wall. So when the wireless keyboard/mouse is put away, it gives me basically about 29" deep of work-space by about 60" wide. I designed it so that the very bottom shelf which is hard to see here, holds my laptop, my work laptop, and the home printer. The three small shelves are just 6" deep. The larger shelf that has the statue on it at the moment is 20" deep to allow for larger dio display. The ceiling of the closet has user set color changing LEDs for lighting, the 20" shelf has LED lighting under it that lights the desktop if painting or drawing.

I have since added a sheet of polycarbonate to the desktop. While it does have 3 layers of poly. on the surfaces, i wanted to protect the wood as best possible since it is all pine excluding the framing portions.

This was my first major build, and while it isnt really complex definitely took more time than I had initially expected. thanks for looking! I hope to share a custom or two some time when my confidence is up enough that I can be satisfied with my work.

You had me at proper clamping.

Great job - there's no substitute for custom fitted stuff. You put the work in, and it shows.

Yet another DIY thread. I love these things.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. It's great to actually have a place to work and play. After putting up some random things this afternoon, I'm definitely going to need to get to work on building out two 10" x 6' shelves for my back wall of the room so that I don't clutter up.

Beautiful work, man!

as a guy who 'customizes' every room in my house, I really dig what you've done here -
