I picked up a dozen of these 'photo holders' on clearance -- they're nothing more than alligator clips on a short length of stiff cable, mounted in a weighted base. the beauty of these is that they are self-supporting - so, I wanted to seal a vestt for a custom i'm working on -- i put a toothpick through the arm holes, & attached it to the photo holder -- minimal points of contact for spraying! Ditto! I was looking for those things' older brother, the mountable "helping hands" that comes with two arms with the clips on the end, and the magnifying glass focused on the item. But that's a great idea. Never saw them at our several dollar stores though. Also, we lost our Big Lots too. Clearwater/Countryside is depressing sometimes. |

well, not to toot my own horn, but before i found these free-standing things, i had been using the 'alligator clips - jb welded - on coat hanger - stuck in wood base' trick before... check the wiki...  and add a toothpick! (i'll post the link when i find it...) edit: and here it is... |

How cool is that? He got one for me and one for himself for like $4 each. He used to own a hobby shop, and was obviously into train sets and the like, so he appreciates what I do here more than what I could probably expect most father in laws to. Eric, if you want, I can find out where he nabbed it, and see if they have more left. |

Which Dollar store did you find that at joemichaels70 ? I have seen those helping hands at Harbor Freight Tool stores, i forget how much they are. |

Yes, the very same rig Dennis! That's something I could really use now as I am painting the faces, tattoos, and other such details on some 1:24 fantasy customs. I have a large lit magnifying glass, but I have to hold the figure to inches from the lens, not easy with involuntary muscle spasms. That unit would save me some mistakes! So Radio Shacks, Flea Markets, etc. Thanks guys and gal. I'll put it on my B'day list come March. |

Awesome site Jimmy. They even have a Greek Fisherman's cap, something I was just looking at two weeks ago in Tarpon Springs. |
