i would recommend working over a box or pan. i dropped the tiny button top pin twice and had to crawl around on the floor.
choose which size of ball joint you need. there are 4 sizes . 1 very large, 4 large,4 med, 4 small. they all have the saime diameter male "pin" ,but the length vary in each size.

remove the 3 pieces that create the ball joint. trim off any flash, or pieces of sprue.

insert round peg into hexagon hole

insert button top pin into the hole . i had to ream every hole just a bit. i also had to smooth up some flash on the rim of the button.

drill a hole, i used a ball bur ,where ever you want to attach the joint. insert "pin"

drill hole in arm. attach arm via the other "pin"

and here they are all installed.
