Awesome, thanks for the picture and tips. I have heard that about exaggerating fine details, which I did on a few of my model. Hoping to get something printed before the end of the week, then I can gauge if I need to go more on the detail to get the detail I'm looking for. I'm hopeful with this adventure. My biggest problem will be to not let failure stop me, as that is about a given with resin from like everyone I have talked with. Will post something soon I hope.

Another tip on the Blender, if you change your mind at some point as I do this often. I just download something from thingiverse or any other free sight and start playing with it. I find it more helpful than video tutorials, as you come across things that you may never consider doing starting from scratch. I would have never thought of animation aspect helping out in designing something to print, though I have downloaded models with it and had to learn to do things in order to modify/edit things.

Thanks,
momaw nadon

Suntzu,

Thank you for the confirmation and advice. I posted there on there forum, as wasn't able to pull up any results from searches. Though I might have not used the wording someone else with my problem used. Odd think is that now Chitubox is doing it for an model I load.

Have another question regarding the resin settings in Chitubox. Are they accurate or just a ballpark to work from.

Re: your chitubox problem
Locate the log folder under the help menu, EXIT chitubox, and THEN delete the chitubox log file.

Restart chitubox (..heck reboot first ).

There's a good chance that will solve your issue assuming your computers drivers are all up-to-date and you have a compatible graphics card.

The settings in chitubox serve as a starting point for ... the .05 layer height. Beyond that you'll have to play around with the settings. Note: bottom layer exposure times are the key to a successful print generally.

Also confirm that your models are touching the grid in chitubox and not ever so slightly above them before heading off to print. You'd hate to be printing air for 5 hrs.

There should be a .doc file listing exposure times for each of the Anycubic resins on one of the related forums. I know the Elegoo resins have a list.

That didn't fix my problem, but thank you for the help. I have a new problem as I decided to update to 1.6.5.1 from the version I was given with my printer for the second time. I say second as I did that the first time and my computer display started flashing, flickering, or whatever and wouldn't let me click on/do anything. Only way that I was able to fix problem was to restore from previous point. Didn't really relate the problem to Chitubox at the time, though the only change I did was the upgrade. When I was able to get everything back to before Chitubox, I reinstalled what came with my printer without upgrading to the current version and noticed that my model would not show up other than an outline of the base. Was gun shy of upgrading as it took me all day to get my PC usable. Taking the advice from the Chitubox forum and checked my drivers and checked for updates to see if something I missed would fix the problem, but nothing. With having everything up-to-date drivers and such (didn't have to do anything, as everything was already current), I figured maybe I couldn't see my model because I wasn't running the latest version. I took the leap, but the problem happened again, but was able to view my model for a short brief time before everything became unusable again and had to restore. I think I didn't notice the gradual progress of the flashing screen the first time, as I started playing on Blender after my first attempt to upgrade. My conclusion as the only change both times was the updating of Chitubox. This is really concerning, as I don't know what to do. I will post my bug on their forum and hope for a solution soon, but would you guys recommend any other slicer program that would work for my printer and won't cause issues with my PC in the meantime?

Thanks again,
momaw nadon

The short answer: Prusa slicer. I've heard good things about a slicer named ...Lychee (?) as well.

The long(er) answer: I assumed you were already using the latest version of Chitubox as the solution I offered worked when I had a problem with the latest version.
Your problem is similar to the one I had and virtually identical to some I've read about . You may need to delete the entire "help me" folders contents instead of just the log. I did the same thing (bouncing from my functioning 3d design software to non functioning Chitubox) and also reinstalled multiple times before applying the solution. Anyway...a mod will get you sorted out on the forum.

Prusa should take care of you while you get your chitubox situation sorted but , having used both, Chitubox is really convenient and worth the time required to get it to a functional state on your pc.

I've seen a lot of discussion in various Facebook groups about the bugs in the latest version of chitubox and not getting them fixed. Most users have went back to earlier versions. I'm currently using V1.6.4.3 Beta and I have no issues with the program.

I'm starting to think that is the case, as it seems the go-to response for any problem on Chitubox forum is update your drivers. I really hate those replies, as just a nice way of saying "you are stupid" and you need to do the most logical thing to fix the problem. I might try a older version when I feel like I want to spent a lot of time running though solutions to an otherwise perfectly running PC.

Going to try out Prusa slicer and hope that allows me to do something with my printer this weekend.

Now that I got my slicer software problem worked out, I'm ready to get my micro items setup and start printing. Though the whole support thing with resin is different than filament printing. If I was doing this on an filament printer I would just place right on the print bed, but would never think of trying anything as small as I'm shooting for and not sure if the first layer cure rate would mess up my part. Which brings me to a few questions for anyone that has done resin prints of micro items. Would you suggest in supports as a base for your print? I know there would be more cleanup, but worried about detail loss on the bonding layer cure rate, if printed directly on the print bed. If printing with supports, would you suggest an angle? I have read that many use an angle of 30%-45%, though in some cases the angle doesn't help. At anything this will be the smallest thing I have ever printed, not to bring up the first time I will be using my printer.

Thanks,
momaw nadon

I've read nothing but good things about the latest chitubox (1.7) so I installed it on 1 machine.

*thumbs up*

I'm going to give it a week before installing it on all units but...so far so good .

Chitubox 1.7 didn't work either. Though I'm wondering if it might be my computer. I still haven't given up just yet, as I'm going to try it out on a different machine and see if the problem follows. Hopefully my next reply will be with success.

Still dialing in settings, but just put a .2mm nozzle in one of my printers. Here's my first print. No cleanup done to it, I just slapped on some paint to make it easier to see. It's modeled after Canus Major's club from Sparkle's Defenders of the Planets line , scaled for Mega Construx:

Playing around and decided to try out some lithophane prints on the Mars. For the record my wife dislikes nic cage, so every year she receives a nic cage gift.ImageImage

It was on thingiverse but I can't stop giggling at how well it turned out.
