Surd was a character in the 90's Jonny Quest cartoon and toy line. Here I'm going for something to reflect the "real-world" Surd. The "Quest World" Surd action figure made by Galoob was more of a Tron/Matrix version of the character.

The legs are undersized (and a fodder box gift from 2DARK2C!) which helps. The headrest and push handles are kibbles from Star Wars items. A ROC MARS trooper backpack is added to the underside to look like a battery storage area. Finally, a pouch from a ROC Ice-Viper is added to the back (which I forgot to paint, btw).

i sure missed it! great use of those "hunter" legs! the chair mods are perfect, but now i'm struck most by the beard/hair sculpting! |

That paint job alone really glammed up that wheel chair, I'm familiar with the playmobile one but I totally didn't recognize it. |

Here I was thinking the wheelchair was entirely custom! That is an insane chair! Love the design and sculpting as well. |

Playmobil accessories: too big for MASK and too small for GI Joe. Adding the scale-adjusting stuff altered its appearance up just the right amount. Glad the paint job works. Wasn't sure if it would come off as lazy, which it totally was. |

There's more work I could have done, like adding "padding" to the chair to contour/fill the gap between the figure's back and the seat (which I made sure to photograph at an angle to hide, of course). There's a not-quite 1:18 wheelchair in the Avatar line (the James Cameron one), but those figures are very small, so I went with the Playmobil one, which looked like an easier path to bulk up. |
