This figure is a nod to the artwork of Rod Whigham, who liked to draw Stalker with no-laces boots and his uniform under a jacket. Here I shifted the design to a desert color set.

Oh nice! I like the look. What type of paint did you use?

Thanks, guys.

8bitboy,

The rust color is the base color spray painted on all parts. It's a mixture of reddish brown and orange sprayed together, with a matching wash of acrylic paint on top (to control the stickiness of the paint on the plastic and to tone down the gloss). The details are then painted with acrylic paint. I use the cheap stuff, like Folk Art and Americana.

2DARK2C,

I've painted the Stalker head before for another custom, which forced me into trying some new stuff on this head. Mostly the beard, but I approached the eyes a bit differently as well. Tried to go for a lot of white right in the center of them.

It seems like most of the ARAH customs I make now are starting to suffer from the plastics turning brittle. On this one, the top of one of the legs cracked at the seam (which I disguised w thick gloss paint to fill). The threading for the screw also crumbled a bit, so the figure's front and back pieces aren't snug. I didn't want to glue them together, so it's left with an irritating gap.

I overlooked this one.
Not sold on the colors, a bit too orange for me to be suitable for the desert. But, I love the parts recipe, makes a great version of Stalker. Definately copying this for my WIP list!

I agree on the colors.

A darker vest would've played better against the vest. The light color of the vest makes the uniform appear to be even more orange that it actually is (it's more of a rust on its own). Green, maybe black for the vest.

Glad you like the recipe. Hiding that Firefly chest/back is a challenge.
