As the Great War wound down Kaiser Wilhelm grew increasingly desperate and recruited the Teuton sorceror Wotan despite his great misgivings about sorcery. Although ultimately too little, too late; Wotan gathered the bodies of fallen and near-dead German soldiers for mystic experiments that were successful enough to create a unit of undead, mechanically-enhanced warriors under his command. Deployed in only 3 battles before the war ended, the MechanischerSoldaten quickly gained a reputation for relentless fierceness in battle, able to take untold amounts of damage before falling.
It was nearly twenty years before a sole MechanischerSoldat was discovered under a haystack in a poor farmer's barn, as the Nazis conducted an inventory of the nation's materiel. Still active, MechanischerSoldat SiebenundDreissig (MechaSoldier 037) was quickly recruited into service in the Fuhrer's TerrorAngriffKorps as a symbol of Germany's fallen honor and resurgence.
