The Ebon Blade of Merlin began to whisper to Dane Whitman whenever he drew the sword from its scabbard; imploring him to seek its vengeance. In time, the whispers became shouts and Dane began to falter in battle with his fellow Avengers. Only once Dr Strange inspected the sword was Dane able to endeavour upon the sword's quest.
Unfortunately, this meant Whitman had to go to Hell.
It was there, in one of the innumerable damned fiery dimensions of the Multiverse that Whitman was 'gifted' the Demon Imp named Pus-Sucker as a guide. Pus-Sucker's help is dubious at best, often cussing about Whitman's mother and farting at inappropriate moments; and now that the sword's quest for vengeance has been sated he won't go back home to Hell.
Dammit.

The Black Knight is the MU figure with a few issues upgraded. I replaced the sword blade with a styrene bi-layer, and the scabbard with shaped-and-glue-hardened construction paper; with the shield being an old Dungeons&Dragons piece that's been bouncing around my Bits Box for a trio of decades. I replaced his arms and legs with those from an MU Goblin of one color or another, and laid down a funky fabric with a similar pattern to the Goblin's mail; with a badly hand-painted bit of paper for his chest sigil (a Merlin bird, I'm told).
Pus-Sucker is a MegaBloks MotU Beast-Man with a Halo Elite's legs and the head, tail, and back spikes from a Schleich baby dragon found in the Battle Arena playset.
