I just learned that comic artist Russ Heath passed away on August 23 at the age of 91. Known primarily for his war comics for DC during the 1960's, Russ Heath's name appears in the credits for the G.I. Joe animated series, as he helped design the look of the characters for the show and the animated movie. He also illustrated one issue of the original G.I. Joe comic from Marvel, which was one of the finest-illustrated issues in the entire run.

Another prolific comic artist whose work I admired and enjoyed for many years. He made GI Joe look awesome in animation. RIP Russ Heath |

Damn. The issue introducing the Skyhawk! Gung Ho gets sliced by Storm Shadow! Great issue, and yes, one of the best issues in the entire run. |
