It's strange they show a 12" TR fig next to what looks like and what I'm hoping is an 18th proto head. An 18th TR would be most cromulent. He'd make for a fun Dr Who Companion.

The Teddy they will be producing will be 4" as well. The 12" is just an older prototype that they might get to eventually but all the figures will be 4".
This line won't necessarily be limited to military figures either and will be more geared towards physical, mental, and moral leaders. Down the line there will also be some sport personalities. One has already signed on and has also been sculpted by the 4HM.

Jim Murphy is actively looking for input from the collecting community to see what we would like to see in a toy line like this so if you want to give some input post it here or in the comments of the Kickstarter if you helped contribute.

I would try to quickly establish some breadth of racial and cultural appeal, to maximize interest. I'm thinking that's already his thinking based on the first choice, tho. If this could pick up where UniMax's Ages of Action left off, I'd be greatly pleased.

I loved that line. I only got the Samurai and Norman Knight but really liked the other ones. I'll probably need to go back and fill those gaps in my collection.

I would love to see some scientists.
Einstein being the #1 most wanted, some other ones I'd like to see in this line I think would work well with this format would be:

Nikolai Tesla
Carl Sagan
Thomas Edison

Authors like Mark Twain would be good too.

Presidents like Washington and Lincoln

Industry leaders like Elon Musk

Who would be a Leader you would like to see in action figure form?

Throw Jonas Salk on that scientators list, esp for some classic labcoat action! I'd be all in favor of science action figures, esp if they came with a representation of their discovery in accessory form (like Einstein coming with a chalkboard with his equations scribbled everywhere, etc). Astronauts from all eras and nations (Sally Ride!).

I advise against anybody still alive. Explorers/discovers are controversial to some, so stay distant from the likes of Columbus.

I don't think having people that are currently alive would be a problem as long as the focus is on their leadership, what they did specially that would be good to emulate, and how their leadership has helped make this world a better place and not just to throw someone in due to their pop-culture hype.

I would avoid controversial people like the plague though.

I'd buy any of the above referenced figures and Walt Disney would be a cool figure to see in this line. I'm not sure why one in some form hasn't happened yet from Disney's marketing machine.

If they're still alive, they're potentially controversial. Lance Armstrong ring any bells? What about Cosby? Living people are nothing but a risk with little advantage in sales beyond a few individuals that would likely be on the controversial list anyway, imho. Frankly, there's enough dead candidates to last a long time anyway.

Both of those two people would fall under pop culture hyped individuals that have not really contributed anything to society. I would classify all pro athletes in that group as well but they do resonate with the target audience of young boys 8-14.

If they focus clearly on what good leadership that person had and include a good lesson along with it, who cares what that person does 10 -15 years after the figure/LDC has been released?

Obviously he shouldn't do a story about someone like Tiger Woods now but 7 years ago that would have sold like crazy and they could have included some really good content with it as long as they focused on his leadership qualities.

There are a lot of historical figures that could done and would be almost endless without even getting close to currently alive people but there are some great stories out there for currently alive people that have dramatically changed the world for the good due to their leadership.

Steven Hawking would be a prime example of a mental leader that would be perfect for this.

My point is that there's a non-zero risk of being in the process of making and marketing an action figure of Real Person X and having commercially-damaging information come out. What if NdGT is indeed chosen and a lot of allegations about his behavior with women arise while 'you're' trying to sell said NdGT action figure? It's just a lot safer to pick from the far-larger pool of dead people where everything* is known.

Although there is always some risk that a person still alive will do something to tarnish their image, their is also greater reward IMO.

Rather than tell a story about Neil deGrasse Tyson, you could have Neil deGrasse Tyson TELL you a story about his life. I think the reward of better stories makes up for the risk that something bad might happen to the person later in life.

The suggest of Columbus was super controversial IMO.

Yes, it's a risk.

Arguably a bit different, but the Simpson toyline did living celebrities.
And hey wrestler Chris Benoit was a personal hero of mine and I actively collected any figures of him...and then he murdered his family and killed himself. So, yeah, risky.

I'd be all in for any and all Teddy, FDR or Lincoln figures.

Einstein, too.


Columbus... I guess historical villains are ok.
