Saw on GeneralsJoes that Gentle Giant posted a 1982 promo video for the GI Joe ARAH line on their Facebook page. http://generalsjoes.com/2014/07/22/gent ... rtisement/

This now has everyone speculating statues, 12" jumbo o-ring figures, desk accessories? I'm sure we'll find out during SDCC, but hopefully before then.

I love my 12" vintage Boba Fett, and would totally get a few of these, if they made them.

Could this be another case like the 6" Star Wars Black figures where Gentle Giant showed off some prototypes at SDCC a year before the SWB line was announced? Could we be seeing some 6" SWB style Joes? Would the Hasbro team dare to change the figure format again after Sigma 6 and the debacle that was G.I. Joe Extreme?

While I'd love to see them do a specialty line of Joe figures like SWB I think these will either be statues or 12" 5POA figures like the Star Wars giant vintage style figures. But the 12" figures will depend on the status of Sideshow's license for 12" figures. They announced the line was going on "hiatus" so its possible that Sideshow let it go and Gentle Giant picked it up.

Hasbro tried the stiff 12" 5 PoA figures during Retaliation and I really doubt it was a smash.
Will they be more popular if they're based on the 1982 figures... I'm not sure.

I think a 6" Black line would come from Hasbro and not from a 3rd party. Gentle Giant hasn't offered anything like a 6" line for any fo the other brands they work with.

No, but Gentle Giant are the ones doing the sculpts for the Star Wars Black line and they debuted the figures at SDCC before Hasbro announced the line. That's the comparison I'm making. Gentle Giant is sculpting the 6"Joe figures for Hasbro like they do with the Star Wars figures.

According to HISSTank it looks like these are going to be the 12" "Jumbo" figures like they are doing with Star Wars. I'd expect more details once the exhibit floor opens in about an hour and a half.

They're 12" upscaled versions of the old 1982 figures: Grunt, Snake-Eyes, Rock'n'Roll, Zap and Stalker.

With straight-arms.

I don't think they understand the GI Joe fandom. It's different than Star Wars.

A bike inner tire?

I'm intrigued by these. They will probably sell for more than I am willing to pay, but I'm looking forward to more info. Grunt has always been my favorite character. I may be tempted to splurge.

Looks like they'll be the only Joes at SDCC too.
Here's Hasbro announcement and they don't even mention GI Joe... Happy 50th

I highly doubt these will have actual O-rings in them. Probably just a balljoint at the waist to simulate the O-ring range of motion.

No swivel arm?!?! Are you kidding me? I won't be buying a single one. How can you mess this up so flagrantly? Damn shame...
