I stopped into the local B&N bookstore and saw a new book that caught my attention. It is called, "SNAFU" This is the sister book of one titled, "FUBAR: Soldier Slang of World War II" http://amzn.com/1435120639 "SNAFU: Sailor, Airman, and Soldier Slang of World War II" http://amzn.com/B00F1W07E6 FUBAR has been a joy to read from a trivia aspect, but it has been a vital source for potential codenames for my characters. I hadn't known of the SNAFU book, but just scanning through it, it has given me some new ideas. B&N had SNAFU for $7, and it is well worth it. |

Cool finds! I hadn't actually thought of using military slang for codenames before, but of course that is somewhat obvious and brilliant! Also see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._government_and_military_acronyms which is a mix of slang and other military lingo/acronyms. Good list for understanding a variety of terms. |
