First, way back when this version of
Snake Eyes from Marvel issue #2 was coming out in modern style that looked a lot like its
o-ring counterpartI knew I had a dilemma. If Hasbro was going to re-release every ARAH figure did I want to re-collect all of those figures again? Did I dump one in favor of the other? Well Stealth Viper said something that stuck with me ever since, treat them like two different collections. It made sense. I collect GI Joe and I collect Star Wars, Marvel Universe, etc. While they might cross paths here and there for those part the only time they really interact is when I'm customizing and taking parts from different lines. I keep them segregated. No joke. My modern figures are stored in identical storage drawers and in the same way I group my ARAH figures. If the two styles interact in anyway in the background of a custom shot it is either a) no modern version for that character or b) intentional to show a difference.
Second, I won't say the Joes don't age. They just age a whole lot slower. Harrison Ford, James Caan, Sean Connery, all really old guys, but they are capable of bringing a strong presence on screen still even though they are well, well, well past their prime. Stallone and Schwartzenegger are in an action movie together (another ZombieGuide appearance) that is coming out soon, Escape Plan. Those guys are still bad asses. That is how I see Stalker and Snake Eyes. Guys in their mid 40's still capable of keeping up with the new blood the Joes have brought in every year since 82.
