Much like pluv's thread, I wanted to see what, in your opinion, is the best Modern Era figure.

For construction's sake, I gotta say PoC Snake Eyes as it has an amazing look and top notch construction that has given us a ton of useful fodder.

For fun's sake, and this is probably a WTF choice, I really enjoy PoC Skydive because I can swap different heads on there and have all sorts of wacky jet pack fun. Plus, I've always had an affinity for ankle holsters.

What's yours?

Any version of the BAT.

I think they absolutely nailed that figure.

Honestly, I feel like I can pick just about any PoC figure and say that I think it is the best Modern Era figure.

It's hard to argue against that Snake Eyes: it's a really great figure that has led directly to the creation of many other great figures.

That said, I've been rediscovering the PoC Beachhead lately. It's not my favorite figure from the modern era, but I'm starting to think that it might be the best. I say that because it combines the best aspects of the ARAH era (interesting, unique character designs that looked cool while still maintaining a military feel) with the best aspects of the modern era (improvements in sculpting, removable accessories, and functional gear). I remember seeing the pictures of the figure from SDCC or ToyFair or wherever they revealed the PoC stuff around the time the RoC line was winding down, and Beachhead was the standout from that group. Looking over my shelf of PoC/30th figures, he's still the one that really jumps out at me, design-wise.

I can point to 2 figures in that line that will make you "spin-kick" yourself for making such a blanket statement.

Honestly, that Commando Snake-eyes from the POC/30th line is pretty epic. I'd put the POC/30th Cobra Trooper up right next to him if not for that poor choice of using the 25th Trooper webgear. The 25th Officer webgear would have been a much better choice.

... hence the "just about" qualifier. :) There certainly are exceptions, with that Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow being two prominent examples.

I'm kind of liking that PoC Stalker, the one with the long dreds. The accessories on that guy are unbelievable, and when fully carried, he doesn't look encumbered as some that come with mass accessories do.

Renegades Storm Shadow.

They got that figure so dead sexy perfect, they cut off it's head, but it in a box, mailed it to Brad Pitt and shocked the nation, just to show us how perfect they could make an action figure.

And I don't even like ninjas.

That 3-Pack Retaliation Firefly was pretty nice too.

In no particular order and simply off the top of my head, here are my modern faves:

Cobra Shock Trooper - love the accessories and colors
Firefly (Retaliation 3-pack) - Hasbro finally got the classic look right, only thing missing was darker camo
Storm Shadow (ROC) - I liked the white biker look, it's a different take on SS, but it's clean and modern
Snake-Eyes (City Strike) - I'm a sucker for any use of the City Strike SE mold, it's clean with decent articulation
Flint (Resolute) - good looking update and looks really good next to Resolute Duke and Beach Head
Snake-Eyes (POC) - I don't care for the web gear, but once it's swapped out, it's a winner in every sense of the word. great accessories and articulation.
Snake-Eyes (arctic) - it's probably the only 25th figure I still really like
Ripcord (ROC Reactive Armor) - the body is perfect for head-swaps and is one of best articulated modern figs. I find myself reaching for this fig to stick in various poses over any other
Snake-Eyes (Retaliation Ninja Duel) - lots of playability and articulation, one of the few figures that can stradle a Maisto 1:18 motorcycle and look good
Snake-Eyes (Temple Guardian) - I thought I'd hate this figure, but I like swapping around the parts to create different looks
Duke (Renegades) - I buy this figure anytime I can to use the body for generic head-swaps

Biggest disappoint for me is POC Low-Light. I level of anticipation versus the getting the fig was a huge letdown. The low range-of-motion just kills it for me. I lost the sniper bullet and wasn't even that mad, since it didn't seem like something I'd be able to do anything with.

I definitely like Dusty79's answer, including some of the more distinctive BATs, such as the Club's Nano-BAT and the ComiCon exclusive Decepticon-BAT.

Another contender for me is the Cobra Lamprey, from that Cobra Island set. I don't have the set (and will forever kick myself for not scoring it at Ross when I had the chance and figured it would be there next time -- definitely something to NEVER assume when it comes to Ross), but I did pick up a Lamprey at one point. Really outstanding figure and one of the best transitions from original to modern-style.

I also like the AVAC and his variants, the Air Commando and the Swamp-Viper. The AVAC's head should have been painted the same brilliant silver as the rest of the trim, but otherwise, it's really excellent.

Some other personal favorites include Quarrel, Major Bludd, Ultimate Cobra Commander, and the Retaliation Cobra Trooper (who really needs ankle joints, but I do like the uniform design). Also Tripwire, and the POC/30th Cobra Viper and Trooper.

Nemesis Immortal, for finally giving us a movie-accurate Nemesis Enforcer.

Para-Viper, for FINALLY giving Cobra some dedicated paratroopers.

And I cannot leave out Matt Trakker, just for uniting the MASK and G.I. Joe universes!

Renegade Storm Shadow. Like I said before, this figure is like having the ninja craze of the 80's in pocket size.
PoC Snake Eyes. Fantastic figure, great fodder for customs and lots of gear.
Renegade Duke. again a great figure out of the package and an excellent base to start a custom figure.

There's a lot of neat figures that came out in the recent years, but those three are clearly on the top of my list.
Special mention to any figures that use the Renegade Stormy body in any color and the Duel Snake Eyes from the Retaliation line.
