The only thing Hasbro alluded to was that there wouldn't be anything. Insiders, former employees, everyone was saying that the writing was on the wall that there wasn't going to be any product in 2014. Certainly nothing indicating there would be 12" stuff. Relax, guy.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

That's not the point. :balloon_hasbro:

I wouldn't be surprised that the blowtorch, baroness and lowlight actually have different color schemes when we see the official figures at joecon. If they show them there.

Thanks to all the JC staff for Your Toyfair presence and hard work this weekend. Great coverage.

I will preface my comments by saying that I usually look at new product as a customizer first and a collector second.

Looking at these, I feel like I went to bed and woke up in 1997: small line, 2-packs, 3-packs, redecos of older molds, TRU exclusives, there are so many parallels to be drawn, it is not funny. If that sounds like a complaint, it is not. There are a bunch of interesting figures in this line. I'm guessing that these pics were probably taken hastily and that most of these figures will change quite a bit before they are released. We will probably see the difference at Joecon.

Speaking as a collector, Leatherneck, Lady Jaye, Destro, HEAT Viper and a few others will go straight into my display shelves and I'm glad we are getting these.

Speaking as a customizer, I'm glad to have access to some harder-to-find tooling. PoC Hawk, Lowlight, PoC Snowjob and Night-Viper are all currently pretty expensive figures, so breaking them up for parts is hard. Now that they will be available again, it will be easier access to their parts.

I do have questions and concerns. Since these are TRU exclusives, how available will they be? Will they be available in Canada? Is the tan VAMP really an SDCC exclusive? How much will these change between now and release time? Since these answer will come in the next few months, I'm not sweating the answers just yet. Right now, I'm just enjoying the fact that we are getting new Joes at all.

OB

P.S. I would have loved if Hasbro would have done an Action 4-pack for the anniversary, similar to what they did for the 30th. I'm not sure it would have been popular at retail, but etailers could have picked it up maybe?

P.P.S. Hi JoeMichaels! ;-)

My Dad's opinion is that Hasbro took a page from Coca Cola's marketing playbook. The section marked "New Coke"...

So you're saying RAH Joe is worse than 12" Joe?

BURN THE HERETIC!

No, no no no no no. No.

I'm not saying that aything is worse than anything else, except my opinion says Super Joe and Sigma Six were pretty bad, I'm confused is all. Yes I am ranty and a little unhappy, this was supposed to be for the Joes preceeding ARAH by a few incarnations. I'm perfectly fine with ARAH, just not when it steamrolls the 60's run on their birthday.

I Think I'll be OK if I call this run the 32nd Anniversary.

Yes I am unhappy. You found me out. But I stated, that was dad's opinion.

a lot are dead. Sad, but true. But 80's kids? We've got quite a few of those to go around.

My dad is still alive.

I hope this is true, and if so, I hope they give us that sweet tan and green Blowtorch variant that was supposed to come out a couple of years ago. I'm not sure what other repaints they could get out of Low-Light, but I like that figure and I'd welcome another version.

Maybe the current creative team at Hasbro is too young to know much about the original GI Joe.
Which might explain the lack of 12" Joe in the celebration.

Major Creator, I understand this is disappointing, but really, this is not a 50th Anniversary celebration on Hasbro's part. These figures will have the 50th anniversary branding only because they're coming out in 2014. None of this is new tooling, they aren't putting out anything we haven't already seen. These just happen to be what they had and they're slapping a "50th Anniversary" sticker on it.

I know as humans with two five fingered hands we are obsessed with numbers divisible by 5 and 10, so a number like 50 which is 5 tens is only eclipsed by a number like 100 which is 10 tens. That makes us feel like the 50th Anniversary of something should be a big deal. Unfortunately, this time it's not. The 40th was a good anniversary for the vintage Joe line, and really, how many times can you remake the Action Soldier?

Try and look on the bright side. You still have the 40th anniversary offering and we're finally getting some of the concept case figures and some of the harder to find PoC figures. Unless Hasbro was going to do something like OB's celebration, it's not like we would have had anything really special this year anyway. But at least there will be Joe product on the shelves in 2014 and the Joe line has been going continuously since 2000. I think all that is pretty cool, in the end.

Oh please yes!

Hmm, could the Vault Ninjas and Zombies be the online retailer exclusive multipacks?
This years offering seems a tad light.

...yeah I know its a long shot, but there's some precedent

Here is a link to the Q&A I was able to do with one of the Star Wars marketing team and Bill Rowley, a designer for the brand:
