So take what I say here with a grain of salt because I think I've come down with a sad case of the Sputniks. So I may sound more negative than I intend.
I also have an affliction known as customizing, and the cure requires that I modify toys by a certain percentage before I can comfortably take possession of them. It's a bad affliction to have, though kilcarr assures me it can be treated with dry air, and has tried to get me shack up with him at his place out in the dustbowl. (But I think he may be confusing the condition with tuberculosis, and that he might simply want to make me his personal customizing monkey).
In any event, I say that in order to say this. Until very recently Ive just not done much with my Marauder figures. It's not that they are poorly made. They're actually pretty great. And I think they are perfect for converting to some of the troops that everyone has been showing off. It's just I've been kind of bored with those options.
Swapping out the gear doesn't really scratch my customizing itch. And in a hobby where I spend most of my time trying to turn unwanted Joes and Cobras into something else, taking a different toy and turning it back into a Joe or Cobra makes about as much sense to me (for my personal tastes) as making Joes out of origami.
So I've been stumped on what to do. But I think I've finally found some inspiration. First, I had to realize that these aren't going to be troopers for me. So, my first breakthrough, shinguards notwithstanding was to make a crew of flight deck/mechanics/maintenance people who can fill in the background of a variety of scenes. Add pouches, paint the pockets, swap on diverse heads, and now I have something I can use...

The other thing I want to do is mash up some parts and see about making some individual adventurers. I kind of like the challenge of making something seem unique in a sea of similar looking figures. This is where I'm starting with that.

So anyway, starting to have fun with them. Just thought I'd share that there is more to do than just army build
