That's why I grabbed both sets from Amazon at $24.99 each and with free shipping over $35, these will probably be cheaper than picking them up at retail.

I meant the fact that is is basically just a facade, not a full jail cell.

Unless you can join multiple playsets together to make a 4-sided jail cell. As it is, the packaging should not be stating that a "jail cell" comes in the box when it is just a wall and the floor in front of it (the occupant of said "cell" stands on whatever surface you are playing/displaying on as the base does not extend beyond the cell wall).

One of the Walmarts near me has raised the price of these to $10.92. They have nothing but Arkham Batman.

They also found cases upon cases of Dark Knight Rises tech pack things with the armor that slides over the figures...and they're "clearanced" for $9.96.

Wow. Super disappointed in that latest pack. NW and Croc were at the top of my list for arkham characters I wanted to see, but those just look bad. I'll hold out hope that they look better in person (like the Arkham Robin).

Playset now seems to mean "elaborate" display base.
We used to have HQs, Batcaves and even castles to play with our figures, now it's just a floor and a wall and maybe a neon colored action gimmick.

Were these ever stated as being 'playsets'?

All of the 'official' descriptions I've found, list it as a display base.
Also they do look like they are designed to connect together.
