The first two 5-packs are filled with candidates. Duke with the huge moobs and suicide wrists, Scarlett's diaper crotch, anime face and bow legs, plus the ones already referenced.

Agreed. Most of the Dreadnok set figures made a good use of parts, but Zanzibar just doesn't work at all as an homage to the 1987 figure.

Don't tell Hasbor this, don't want them to get the wrong idea, but I'd take gun glued in hand Retaliation Roadblock over 25th Roadblock every time. one of them has parts that aren't horrible and can be "fixed". The other has some seriously strange proportions going on.

I like the first 25th Cobra Commander and Storm Shadow. I think both of those have withstood the test of time for me.

I loved the first 25th Cobra Commander. That molded fist made for so many COBRAAAAA poses.

And I agree with you about gimp hand Retaliation Roadblock vs 25th Roadblock.

Now Resolute Roadblock trumps them all IMO.

This was one figure they should have had a switchable hand/lower arm.

So we can do the COBRAAAAAA pose and for normal applications.

I'm thinking the Jungle Viper. Try as I might, there was absolutely nothing on the scuplt or accessories that I could find a use for. Perhaps if they had made the blades of long grass actually look like long blades of grass and not green blades, or had perhaps thought of an entirely different sculpt, but I just couldn't get into it at all.

The only thing that kept Zanzibar from making it onto my list is that his chest and upper arms are salvageable. I absolutely hate that figure, though: the body (other than the aforementioned parts) sucks, and even those parts look terrible in context. And then there's the head: between the faux-hawk (never acceptable, even on a villain), the ponytail (not much better), and his facial expression, he might have my least-favorite head in the history of the line. I'd rather share a one-bedroom apartment with a dude who looks exactly like Effects than look at the Zanzibar head sculpt for a solid minute. I took mine out of my fodder-heads drawer and put it in a drawer that I rarely open just to minimize the chances of coming across it while rummaging through the bin.

Don't forget any of the early Cobra Commanders with the closed fist.

While not practical, I don't mind it on him because he can hold it up when he's raging. But, the shoulders on that figure are bad. They're like notched or something so when you try to pose his arms they only stay in certain positions. It's hard to put the arms down to his sides. Either he looks like he has tennis balls shoved into his armpits, or he's keeping his arms so tight to his side like he's trying to hide some pit stench.

You guys nailed it with this list. A great reason why we don't have any good Marines, Dreadnoks, Destros, Crankcases, etc.

25th Gung-ho is bad for all the reason mentioned, but I find a certain "je ne sais quois" about him that still endears me to him. Maybe his skin color reminds me of a sea-zombie-Marine and I like that, or I'm just a sucker for functioning holsters.

And the arm articulation on him and Blowtorch is semi-fixable with a little Exacto work. At least Blowtorch looks good.

Has no one mentioned the 1st RoC Baroness yet? That face peg-warmed a nation.

Because like most RoC figures, Baroness makes great fodder

I can see that somewhat - but still thought (like most modern Joe females) she was too super-skinny. I have the same prob. with Retal. Lady Jaye (a.k.a. Ren. Scarlett) - great fig in many ways, but those arms don't look strong enough to lift their own weight. Bombstrike seems like the only "average Joe" girl of recent memory.

Anyhow, if the JC crowd like RoC Baroness, more power to ya...must have been easy pickings :)

Night Fox from the Ninja Combat Cruiser. No articulation. Only good thing is the head and accessories.

I was able to use the head and vest on the 3-pack Beach Head body. It made for a fairly respectable Night Fox. It's nice to have a SEAL that isn't wearing flippers all the time ;-)

I think we can all agree the Retaliation vehicle drivers sucked hard. I wouldn't even count them as figures.
