Griever was once a man, until Cobra Commander had Maim torture him for attempting to defect from Cobra. After Maim was finished with him there was very little left of him. Instead of letting him die Cobra Commander gave him to Dr. Mindbender with the instructions of making him a loyal soldier once more. After the good doctor finished with him all that was left was his brain and central nervous system integrated into a massive robotic structure. He is now stronger, more agile and more accurate than any B.A.T. or Cyber-Viper. He follows orders instantly without question and is everything Cobra Commander could have hoped for. Griever is aware, and he actually likes his new form and gladly serves Cobra once more. However, he is biding his time trying to find a way around the programming installed in him that prevents him from harming Maim.
