Whenever he is asked about the existence of Strikeforce Viper, Cobra Commander easily evades the question by stating if such a force did exist, he as the supreme ruler of Cobra would know about it. He then sends whoever asked the question to Big Boa for "Motivational Training", to help them focus on their job and not waste time indulging in daydreams about imaginary Cobra Strikeforces. When they come back from training they seldom bring the question up to Cobra Commander again, or any other question for that matter.

When Hotshot was a kid, his favorite activity was blowing up his sister's toys with firecrackers. While most kids eventually grow out of this, Hotshot looked upon this as training for his future career in demolitions. As a young man he eventually found work rigging explosives for building implosions, but quickly grew bored with it, claiming it wasn't noisy or messy enough for him. This led him to wandering the globe as a bomber for hire, which eventually led him to Cobra and then to being recruited into Strikeforce Viper, where he is more than happy to blow things up at the whim of Cobra Commander.

"Anyone can blow up a building with a few sticks of TNT, but what's the fun in that? When you destroy your target AND make a crater big enough to hide an entire company of Vipers, then you've accomplished something!"
