These identical twin sisters are probably my favourite custom characters. Initially they were one person, Frederica IV, one in combat gear, the other in civvies. However as my Joe-verse got stranger and stranger, they evolved into two separate people (both being Frederica IV at one point). When I saw the comic pack Zarana head, I saw great potential in it - simply changing the hair and eyebrows made it look 1000% better. It was a very distinctive face, but without the pink hair wasn't identifiable as Zarana. The characterisation was the key factor behind the hairstyles I chose and their civilian bodies.
Frederica IV (known as Freddie) is the one wearing the headband, with the shorter haircut. She is more serious minded, quite introverted and prone to sarcasm - she would have been a tomboy in her younger years. Her personal interests include fast cars and auto mechanics, working out and customising action figures (or "playing dress up with dolls" as her family calls it). I gave her a very 'practical' haircut, to try and bring this out and set her apart from her sister.
Freddie's civilian gear is again 'practical', but with character flair thrown in. I picture her as a heavy metal fan, so her boots have the steel plates on them, and the orange and black is a nod to Rammstein. The tattoos on her arms are a double headed dragon, a Cobra symbol and on the inside of her arm 'Another tale of infinite dreams' - a line form Gethsemene by Nightwish. These were mostly to cover up some discolouration on the arms I was using, but I think they add a nice insight to her character.
Frederica V (known as Freddo - after a chocolate bar) is the younger of the twins, and has a more extroverted, easygoing attitude to life. She tends towards being a bit of an airhead, mostly in contrast to her sister, but is actually keenly intelligent - just absent-minded. She spends time chatting on the Net, watching TV, shopping and 'hanging out'. This contrast is why she has the red streaks in her hair, partly as a nod to being a CG, but also to give her the more trendy look.
Freddo's civvies consist of olive green trousers and a black singlet. 'The Signals' is the name of my brother's Reggae, rocksteady and ska band, so I thought it'd do rather than a more well known band. Also since The Signals are locally based it isn't unreasonable to assume Freddo actually regularly attends their gigs as my Joe-verse is set in Sydney. I kept the Zarana forearms to give her a bit more of an outlandish appearance than plain old bare arms. On her left arm I gave her a Roman 'V' tattoo with a laurel wreath imitating the Crimson Guard icon.
As a pair the twins are very close, both suffering from degrees of 'middle child syndrome'. This has bonded them together, both having gone through the same childhood experiences, and knowing they had someone who understood them. They don't have a Tomax / Xamot psychic bond or anything, just a close, caring bond between siblings. Both have twin university degrees (they are still CGs after all); Freddie has degrees in business law and architecture, Fredo economics and software engineering - though they are currently working as security guards at Destro's TV staton.
