An ex-CIA, School of the Americas trained guerilla with an MIT education on the side, Maldito seved in a black ops unit under the name Agent Mendes. During a mission in the Phillipines, Mendes betrayed his unit, allerting a tergeted terror cell to their position in exchange for a large sum of money. Mendes assumed the name Maldecido, and became a mercenery.

Maldecido's booby traps are legendery. A number of his devices have become staples of CIA advanced training regimens. He is also an expert marksman and survivalist, with extensive experience in South and Central America, Africa, the Phillipines, Central Asia and the former Soviet Union. Since his betrayal, Maldecido has become wanted in nine countries in the America's alone for his involvement with various revolutionary groups and criminal syndicates. Recent intelligence suggests that he has forged a close alliance with the Saboteur, Firefly.
