I actually like Capt. Grid Iron even despite of the goofy foot references and yellow pants. The character himself is pretty cool, and I like the idea of having a Joe that would reference everything in football terms and then having his teammates make fun of him for it.
And I really dug his accessories for their over the top ridiculousness.

As much as I dig the original figure, the idea behind this custom was to tone down the over the top nature and make a more traditional soldier. Gone are the yellow pants and football helmet. I sanded down the tabs from the side of the leg.
I also gave him a standard M-16 rifle.
